SONGBOOK SKETCHBOOK

  • PERSONAL PROJECT

I've always struggled to express my feelings through words. Even as a kid, when I wanted to become a writer or scriptwriter, I would be lost trying to find the words to best describe my characters and their dilemmas. That’s why I’ve always admired Songwriters who are able to convey such specific feelings and experiences in just a couple lines: Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, the HAIM sisters, are just a few of them.

“Sketchbook Songbook” is an ongoing series of Illustrations rooted in song lyrics that I related to at a specific time. This Songbook thus acts both as a personal Diary and a Playlist of moments.

Now I wanna sell my house

And set fire to all my clothes

And hire a priest to come and

Exorcise my demons

Old habits die screaming

I always wished that I could find

Someone as beautiful as you

But in the process I forgot

That I was special too

I didn’t know if you’d care if I came back

And maybe I don't quite know what to say

But I'm here in your doorway

Las flores de Mayo poco a poco cederán

A las patas de gallo

Cuida que el rincón de siempre

Permanezca reservado

Rose flowing with your chosen family

And it would’ve been sweet

If it could’ve been me
